Concert Crackdown is a Global Gam Jam 2017 game, made with the theme of "Waves". In it, the player plays as a glam rock star who has to use their powerful music to fend off their obsessed fans.

Concert Crackdown marked my second time participating in the Global Game Jam.

My Contribution

Concept Design
The theme of this Global Game Jam was "waves". We didn't want to do the obvious (waves of the sea) and thought to combine bits of two different ideas (putting together sound waves and waves of enemies). With the programmers I discussed what metrics we would need and what power-ups would be made available to the player every few waves of enemies. In the end, the game was similar to rhythm games in a lot of ways.

UI/UX Design
On the team, I was responsible for the UI and UX, something I hadn't done before. This was made more challenging by the fact that I had to work with a borrowed laptop. I tweaked the metrics to make play feel smooth, I created the first HUD and controls explanation screen (which also included the basic narrative of the game).
